Ever since my epic craft fail with the ceramic pen (read about that HERE), I've been looking for another way to write on glass and ceramic.
I'm pleased to say that I think I've finally found it!
Sharpie Paint Pens (buy your own HERE) seem to be the ticket!
For this project I used these adorable jars from IKEA. I guess technically they're bud vases but they reminded me of little glass milk bottles.
No, you're not seeing things; the word "Sip" is indeed wonky. Oh well... |
So I made a couple of templates by cutting some adhesive-backed vinyl with my Silhouette (learn more about the Silhouette HERE).
Then I applied the template to the jar, colored it in with the paint pen, and removed the template when the paint was dry.
It was super-simple!
(Admittedly, I used a very "forgiving" font--one that's meant to be imperfect--but I still think it turned out nicely.)
Now if only I weren't lactose intolerant...
Adorable Elena!
ReplyDeleteLove it! The sharpie markers don't wash off? I guess they're enamel? I need to get one (or five) of those!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you asked. So I had a third jar that I made a mistake on. I tried scrubbing the lettering off with Brillo and it started to come off. Then I thought, hmm, maybe I'll put this in the dishwasher and wee what happens. A little more came off in there but not much. I imagine over time it would wash away, though, so I would recommend hand washing,
DeleteSo cute! And such a fun idea!! Hope you're having a great week!! xo Holly
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable! I have not tried a font like this with my Cricut, but I will now. Thanks for the inspiration.

Ha! Lactose intolerant, huh? What do you drink? I am so glad to hear there are sharpies that do work for something like this. Thanks for the tip on the special kind to order and where to find it. These jars are so stinkin' cute.
ReplyDeleteI am sooooooo loving this!!! Makes me want to run out and get a vinyl cutter! Pinning for sure!

Such a cute idea! I have a friend who loves the starbucks drinks that come in bottles like these - she's been giving them to me (empty :( :) and this is a darling idea to try on them!
ReplyDeleteThese are great! And I have a Silhouette too! Woot! :)
ReplyDeleteBummer on the lactose intolerance but these came up lovely, might have to check ikea vases next time I'm there.
